Bring the family to the Nature Center at Ernie Miller Park on Friday evenings this summer for entertainment and educational experiences. For more information, call (913) 826-2800. Each program is approximately 45 minutes to one hour in length and begins at 7 pm. Advanced registration required. Space is limited.
1 - 45 min. program - $3 per person. Children age two and under are free. Due to construction this summer these programs will be held in the Nature Center instead of at the amphitheater.
WILDLIFE WEBS (July 10) - Every animal plays an important role in the food chain. Help construct three food chains and see a live animal from each one. Find out who eats who.

Search for hidden caches using our GPS devices. Enjoy grilled hotdogs and s`mores. Arrive anytime between 5:30 pm and 7 pm. This fun event is $10 for individuals, $11 nonresidents; $30 for a family up to 4 people, $33 nonresidents; or $40 for a family up to 7 people, $44 nonresidents.

This modern day scavenger hunt is a great way to spend time with the family out in your local park. Each group is loaned a GPS device and given instructions on how to find the caches hidden around Shawnee Mission Park. Receive a prize after finding the caches, then enjoy lunch and S`mores. Those registering as individuals will each receive a GPS unit to use; participants registering as a group of four or less will be loaned one GPS unit; registering as a group of seven or less be loaned two GPS units. Meet at Shelter #2. Pre-registration required.
