Come in costume and visit the freaky photo booth, make creepy crafts, enter the haunted hallway, prepare a healthy snack, and show off on the dance floor to your favorite Halloween beats! Stop in anytime between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. for this free family event!

  2. Mildale Farm Fall Fest

    October 27, 2018, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Mildale Farm

    Bring the family and spend the day exploring the Mildale Farm property and enjoy a number of fall activities during this free public event. Visitors can explore and picnic on the 158-acre site including the 22-acre rental property as well as about 136 acres of adjacent agricultural property. Enjoy cider and hot cocoa and a large pumpkin patch. A tractor-drawn hayride will take visitors to a fire circle to roast marshmallows and enjoy storytelling. Catch-and-release fishing in any or all seven ponds, so bring your own bait and tackle. While district fishing permits have been waived for this event, Kansas residents ages 16 to 74 and nonresidents 16 and older need to have a Kansas state fishing license. Restrooms will be available in the large equestrian barn. For even more family fun today, be sure to visit Lanesfield School Fall Open House between 10 am and 5 pm, it’s just three miles from Mildale Farm!

    Celebrate autumn 1904-style while you experience life as a student in a one-room schoolhouse! Have old-fashioned fun with hands-on activities. FREE and open from 10am-5 pm.   4. Interactive 1850's Kansas Town Hall Meeting (All Ages) Johnson County Museum

    October 27, 2018, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Arts & Heritage Center - Museum Foyer for Special Events

    In Territorial Kansas, pro-slavery and free staters lived side-by-side. Join in with the Lecompton re-enactors at an 1850s town hall meeting debating the future of Kansas - let your voice be heard! The Town Hall begins at 11 am in the theater on the main level. Meet James Lane in the museum exhibit at the conclusion of the program. Program is included with museum admission: $5 adults, $4 seniors, $3 children.

  5. Fall Group Hayrides - Oak Ridge Parklands @ SMP

    Times: Monday - Thursday: 4 pm or 6 pm; Fridays: 4 pm, 6 pm, 7:30 pm, and 9 pm; Saturdays: 2:30 pm, 4 pm, 5:30 pm, 7 pm, and 8:30 pm; Sundays: 2:30 pm, 4 pm, 5:30 pm, and 7 pm

    Enjoy the outdoors by scheduling your group for a hayride through Oak Ridge Parklands in Shawnee Mission Park. Our hayrides conclude with a warm campfire where marshmallows and apple cider await. The one-hour hayride and one-hour campfire are just $7 per person, and groups will need to reach an $80 minimum for their ride. Hayrides are available at Shawnee Mission Park seven days a week Call (913) 831-3359 to reserve a date and time for your group. Two weeks advance registration is required.
