Away From Home: A Brief History of Boarding Schools, 1870s-1920s

Thursday, February 23, 2023

Join Dr. Eric Anderson, Professor of Indigenous and American Indian Studies at Haskell Indian Nations University, for "A Brief History of Boarding Schools, 1870s-1920s." This program will explore the creation of the federal off-reservation boarding-school system, utilizing Haskell as a key example. Learn about some of the early routines and curriculum at Haskell, and its evolution to a Native-centered university. This program complements the museum’s special traveling exhibit, "Away from Home: American Indian Boarding School Stories," on display February 1 - March 18. Museum members receive 20% off the ticket price.
