Come enjoy the Johnson County Museum and KidScape in a comfortable, low-sensory environment. This limited-occupancy session is designed specifically for children with sensory processing differences and Autism Spectrum Disorders, and their families. We welcome visitors of all abilities and museum experience. We also welcome hand fidgets, comfort items, weighted blankets and vests, and mobility devices.
This program is offered in partnership with Britain Development, a program of Advent Health Shawnee Mission.

“Frosty the Snowman”- Everyone’s favorite snowman was born in 1950 as the subject of a record, and soon after appeared in many forms, including a Little Golden Book!
Preschoolers love stories from long ago, read by a special guest from the 1950s All-Electric House! Craft activity included after the story ends.

Experience a traditional 1904 old-fashioned Christmas! Write to Santa with pen and ink and visit the gift shop for stocking stuffers. The Edgerton Rainbow Connection Children’s Choir will perform at 1:30 pm. Santa visits from 1:45-3:30! Crafts, free refreshments!
Interact with museum staff as you learn why we collect, how we collect, and the importance to our local community. Our collection features over 19,300 3D objects and over one million images. The Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center holds the museum's two-dimensional collection, including manuscripts, maps, photographs, and quilts. Bring a lunch, snacks, and water bottle and dress for the weather - we will go outside if we can. We are open from 8:00am to 4:30 pm, but you may drop off and pick up at any time.
5 year old children can be enrolled if currently attending kindergarten. For program questions call the museum (913) 715-2570. *We require all participants to complete personal information forms for each child that we will keep for the school year. You will receive an email after registration with the form.*
