  5. Overnight Fishing at Shawnee Mission Park

    Grab your fishing pole and lantern for another overnight fishing opportunity! The park will be open for fishing only and park police officers will be on duty throughout the night. Before fishing, anglers ages 16-74 will need to have a valid Kansas fishing license, a Johnson County Park & Recreation District fishing permit, and all appropriate boat tags, if applicable.   10. S’more Family Fun

    July 27, 2018, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Shawnee Mission Park

    This modern day scavenger hunt is a great way to spend time with the family out in your local park. Each group is loaned a GPS device and given instructions on how to find the caches hidden around the Small Lakes area of Shawnee Mission Park. Receive a prize after finding the caches, then enjoy grilled hotdogs and S`mores. Those registering as individuals will each receive a GPS unit to use; participants registering as a group of four or less will be loaned one GPS unit; registering as a group of seven or less be loaned two GPS units. Meet at Shelter #2. To add even more fun to the night, head over to The Theatre in the Park after the geocaching event for a show! This two-hour session is just $11 ($13 nonresident) per person, $29 ($32 nonresident) for a family (up to four), or $39 ($43 nonresident) for a family (up to seven.)

    All sailors and sailing enthusiasts, ages 18 and older, are warmly welcome to join members of the Johnson County Sailing Society for lunch along with the graduates of their Sailing I class. Bring your sack lunch, and afterwards you will have an opportunity to sail a variety of vessels while participating in water activities like mock races or a sailing scavenger hunt.
