1. What will my child do throughout the day at Natureplay?

Throughout the day, children will participate in hands on learning experiences that focus on social and emotional development, science and math learning, literacy and the arts.  Natureplay provides a
play-based learning experience for children and we spend as much time outdoors
as possible.

2. How far in advance can I enroll?

Families
can enroll 30 days prior to when they want their child to start. To Register at
the Open House in April each year children need to be turning 3 years old no
later than October 1^st. Children must be 3 years old and potty
trained to attend Natureplay Preschool.

3. Are snacks provided daily?

Yes.  We provide a healthy snack every morning and
afternoon.  We serve healthy snacks with
an emphasis on fresh/frozen fruits and vegetables, whole wheat crackers, and
try to expose children to new foods. 
Children also eat food they grow out of their school garden.

4. Is Natureplay open on inclement weather days?

No.  Both Mill Creek Activity Center and Meadowbrook Park Natureplay programs follow their respective school district's (De Soto and Shawnee Mission) inclement weather closures. We will also post closure notices on our Natureplay Facebook group pages as a reminder.

5. Do children learn their ABCs and 123’s?

Yes.  Children work on recognizing letters,
numbers, and words in print and in their environment each day.  This is reinforced as children play and
interact with their environment indoors and out.  Children will not do preschool worksheets to
learn these concepts as this is not our Natureplay philosophy.  We believe children learn best by interacting
with their environment and at their own pace.
