Masters Schedule Update

The Shawnee Mission School District has requested to have no other activities in the facility during their practices or meets. Due to this, all Masters practices on Saturdays will be canceled through their season. I understand this is difficult news for our Masters swimmers and we tried to work out something to make this work but to stay consistent across all of their activities, SMSD decided that this change is needed.

SMSD Swim Meet Days

The Shawnee Mission School District has numerous meets scheduled for their Boys Swim and Dive teams. On these days they have estimated that their meets will be done by 6:30 pm. This means we have not had to cancel practices on these nights. With that said, if they are running late, please be patient. Facility doors will not be opened until the meet is completed.

Arrival Time for Practice

Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to evening practice times to limit the amount of time everyone is in the facility. Also, after practice we understand that numerous people are friends in the program, but we ask that you exit the pool and put clothes on over your swim attire and exit the facility as soon as possible.

COVID-19

We appreciate everyone following all of the SMSD Aquatic Center Reopening Plan and the guidelines within it. Following these guidelines continues to keep our guests and staff safe.

Please remember during these times of COVID there is a lot of change and we will continue to update you on guidelines. Thanks for your cooperation in following all facility guidelines.

Face Masks Image

Face Masks must be worn at all times in the facility, except when in the pool.

  • Masks must be worn at all times in the facility. The last thing before getting into pool is removing mask, and the first thing when getting out of pool should be putting on mask.
  • Please bring a baggie or a container to keep your mask in and it be at the side of the pool.
  • All sports in Johnson County Parks & Recreation District are required to wear masks while practicing or competing. Swimming we do not require this as it is a safety concern while in the water, but your mask must be on up to and immediately after entering or exiting the pool.

      • A swimmer at each end of the pool.
    • 3 Swimmers in a Lane
      • A swimmer at each end of the pool and one swimmer in the middle of the pool.
    • 4 Swimmers in a Lane
      • A swimmer at each et each end of the pool and a swimmer under the set of flags at each end.

Winter Weather is Coming

We have been so lucky with weather and feels like spring this week. We all know that winter is coming and I wanted to provide a reminder of the SMSD Aquatic Center's Weather Policy.

In the event that Shawnee Mission School District is closed due to inclement weather, the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center will also be closed for the morning hours. Decisions will be made on evening practices, programs and facility opening for the evening during that day.
