Intermediate skills for sailing will be covered through a class being offered by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District. The class is called Sailing II and is for ages 18 and older.Participants will learn to sail a Sweet 16 sailboat. Sailing II will cover weather observation, two-sail rigging, twin-hull nomenclature, safety, trailering, and trailer maintenance. As a prerequisite, participants must have completed either an American Red Cross or JCPRD Sailing I class prior to enrollment. Basic swimming skills are also required. The water sessions will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday beginning July 14 at the Shawnee Mission Park Boat Ramp, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee.
