What's coming up for the week of June 27 - July 3?

Here's a sampling of programs JCPRD has coming up for the week of June 27 - July 3:

June 27 - Family Fun: Shooting Sports Family Fun Time (TimberRidge Adventure Center, 12300 S. Homestead Lane, Olathe, Ages 8 & Older, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., $12 per person, $13 nonresidents) - Archery and BB guns will be offered at their respective ranges from 2:30 - 4:30 pm. Participants (including adults) must pre-register for this event online - no drop-ins accepted, and may come and go or stay for the entire event. Families will rotate through the activities at their own pace. In case of inclement weather, program may be cancelled. Activity number 9608.

June 30 - Games: Anniversary Special - Totally 80s Music Bingo (Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 9101 Nall Ave., Prairie Village, Ages 50 Plus, 2-4 p.m., $10 per person, $11 nonresidents) - Here we go again with a totally tubular afternoon of music bingo. Score some radical prizes and enjoy refreshments as you walk like an Egyptian to your favorite tunes of the 80s. Please pre-register at least one week in advance, no walk up registration is available. For the enjoyment of all participants, children are not permitted to attend 50 Plus Bingos. Cost of admission covers snacks and staff time to administer the bingo program. No additional charge for bingo. Activity number 9817.

July 1 - Parking Lot Concert and Dinner (Roeland Park Community Center grounds, 4850 Rosewood Dr., Roeland Park, Ages 50 Plus, 5:30-7 p.m., $18 per person, $20 nonresidents) - Performing a mix of country, pop, and blues, Michelle Hawkins takes her performance outdoors for this special summer concert. Bring a chair or enjoy music from the comfort of your car. Dinner included. Register at least one week in advance. Activity number 9628.

July 1, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 & 29 - Open Water Swim Training (Shawnee Mission Park Beach, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee & Lenexa, Ages 18 & Older, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., $7 per person, $7.50 nonresidents) - Looking to train for an upcoming triathlon or to change up your swim workout? JCPRD offers open water swim training on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Shawnee Mission Park Beach. All swimmers should be able to swim 500 meters freestyle and have endurance to swim in open water conditions. Lifeguard will be on duty. All participants must be pre-registered by 10 a.m. on the day of the training. A minimum number of participants must be registered or the practice will be canceled. If a participant is registered for a canceled practice date, a full refund will be given.

July 2 - Dance: Tea Dance - Fourth of July (Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 9101 Nall Ave., Prairie Village, Ages 50 Plus, 2-4 p.m., $5 per person) - Celebrate Independence Day and dance to The Playboys. Individuals and couples welcome. Some refreshments provided. Pay at the door. Activity number 9707.
