A total of eight cross-road storm water culverts are being replaced in five designated areas of the park. These areas have been established to help coordinate the work, manage traffic, and limit the duration of road closures and detours. Generally, all construction work will occur on weekdays, and each area will only be under construction for two to four days before temporary surfacing is installed. Full asphalt replacement should be performed within two weeks at each site. Only one peoject area will be closed to traffic at any given time,  and work on a different one of the five areas is expected to begin Sept. 30 and each Monday through October. The culvert work is being done by Max Rieke Bros Excavating.

Traffic message display boards about this project have been in place at all three of the park's entrances since Sept. 16, and work will get under way on Monday, Sept. 30.

Like all outdoor projects, this project is dependent upon good weather. In case of inclement weather, this project could be delayed or postponed.

Shawnee Mission Park is located at 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee and Lenexa.
