Deadline approaching for May regional trip to Pella Tulip Time Festival for 50 Plus

Pella, Iowa

Jan. 30 is the deadline for an early May regional trip to Pella, Iowa, being offered in Early May by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.

Pella Tulip Time Festival is the name and destination of this three-day trip, which will take travelers to Pella, which was founded by immigrants from the Netherlands, and is located  forty miles southeast of Des Moines. The trip leaves on Wednesday, May 1. On the way north, the group will make a stop in West Branch, Iowa to visit the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum. After an overnight stay in  Des Moines West, the group will spend most of Thursday, May 2, in Pella at the Tulip Time Festival, including some free time, and grandstand seats for the Grandstand Show and Volksparade. After vising more sites in Pella on Friday, May 3, travelers will head back home.

This three-day trip includes four meals, transportation, and tickets. The cost is $523 per person for double occupancy or $599 per person for single occupancy.  The registration deadline, including a $50 deposit, is Jan. 30, and final payment is due by Feb. 20. While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at (913) 826-3030 for space availability.
