A new Thanksgiving-themed gymnastics special event for young gymnasts in levels 2 or 3  is being offered in late November by the gymnastics department of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.

Called the Turkey Tumble  Advanced Clinic, this program is for girls ages six to 12. Higher difficulty skills on the vault, bars, beam, and floor will be covered.

“The intermediate and advanced clinics give gymnasts that additional opportunity to master desired skills and allows gymnasts that might not be in our program a chance to check us out,” said JCPRD Gymnastics Coordinator Tom Prichard.

The Turkey Tumble  Advanced Clinic will take place beginning at 4 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 20 at the JCPRD Gymnastics Center, located inside the Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Dr., Shawnee.  To find this program in the My JCPRD Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under youth then under gymnastics. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords “gymnastics special event.”

The cost for two one-hour sessions is $20 per person for Johnson County residents or $22 per person for nonresidents. Participants must be enrolled in a Level 2 or 3 class, either at JCPRD or at another studio. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359 or register online at

The My JCPRD Activities catalog is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
