Join us for a lunar astronomy program and observe the moon in this internationally-coordinated event during a special event planned in late October at the Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s Lexington Lake Park.
The event is called International Observe the Moon Night and is for all ages, but is recommended for ages five and older with a parent or guardian. Observe the moon through a telescope, learn about lunar phases, make impact craters, your very own moon journal, and more! Check out the International Observe the Moon Night website at: www.observethemoonnight.org.
To find this program in the My JCPRD Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under special events and then under fun for all. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “astronomy.”
International Observe the Moon Night will take place from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, in Lexington Lake Park, 8850 Sunflower Road, De Soto. The cost is $7 per person for Johnson County residents, or $8 for nonresidents. Feel free to bring your own binoculars, blanket, or chairs.
For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359 or register online at www.jcprd.com. Registration for this program closes on Oct. 18.
Printed copies of the My JCPRD Activities catalog are available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
