50 Plus Nature Walks

  1. Wednesday Walk: Landon Nature Trail

    September 26, 2018, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Antioch Park

    A part of the Kanza Rail-Trails Conservancy, this paved trail runs by tallgrass prairies, oak-hickory forests, and more. E = Easy (Smooth, even trail with slight elevation increases). Make friends while exploring the great outdoors! We drive; you relax, listen to the wind and experience new destinations! Bring a sack lunch for a picnic after our walk and a few dollars in case we stop for ice cream. Depart from Antioch Park. Return times vary. Inclement weather date is the following week. Staff will determine if weather conditions are suitable for walking. Please bring your own water bottle. Please register at least one week prior to departure.

    In addition to fall hayrides for organized groups, JCPRD offers this annual opportunity for individuals and family members to enjoy the crisp autumn air from a tractor-drawn haywagon without having to worry about reaching minimum numbers or placing a deposit. Like the group program, this hayride will last approximately one hour, and will be followed by a one-hour campfire with apple cider and marshmallows. The cost is just $7 per person. Participants will meet at Site A at Oak Ridge at Shawnee Mission Park. Advance registration is required by Sept. 28.
