JCPRD’s new human resources manager, LaNesha Washington, brings a unique perspective and an appreciation that human capital is every organization’s greatest asset.

Washington began in her new position on Nov. 1.

“I was interested in the HR manager position with JCPRD because I was intrigued by the district’s mission and the rapid growth that they have been experiencing. I was looking for a new opportunity that would allow me to gain knowledge within a different industry,” she said.

Washington is a certified human resources professional who previously worked for about five years as area people director for Waffle House in the Kansas City metro area where she was in charge of recruiting for 17 locations, for about five years as main campus director of admissions for Wright Career College in Overland Park, about three years as area service manager for Vatterott College in Wichita, and about four years as newspaper in education coordinator for The Wichita Eagle newspaper.

“For the past ten years, I have worked in a wide range of HR roles within different industries,” she noted. “My previous positions will afford me the opportunity to bring my varied skillset to help the HR department operate more efficiently and effectively support the divisions within JCPRD.”

Washington holds a bachelor’s degree in strategic communication from Wichita State University, and a master’s degree in human resources management from Webster University, also in Wichita.

She is also the mother of two sons, Derrius and Desmond. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, shopping, and socializing with friends. Washington said she is excited to be part of the JCPRD family.
