The Shawnee Mission Park Marina will begin weekend operations on May 5 and 6, and opens daily for the summer season beginning May 26 and continuing through Aug. 12.

May 26 is also the date of a grand opening for the new Shawnee Mission Park Beach House, as well as opening day for the summer season, not only for this beach, but the marina and beach house at Kill Creek Park as well. Watch for more details about the beach house's grand opening coming soon.

Weekend hours at the Shawnee Mission Park Marina are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with the last rentals each day at 6 p.m. The marina offers boat rentals, including canoes, pedal boats, kayaks, and paddleboards. Fishing permits are also available at the marina. The Shawnee Mission Park Marina accepts credit cards, but not checks.

A reconstruction project at the marina's loop drive is now complete. The existing pavement was removed and replaced, and traffic flow should be improved. Curbside parallel parking around the loop has been replaced with 22 parking spaces within the previous median strip in the center of the loop, including four accessible spaces. The pedestrian walkway from the marina to the boat ramp have also been replaced and now comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
