Let us take the worry out of driving and planning as you enjoy a full day of entertainment, education, and fun.  Prices for daytrips include tickets, admission, guided tours, meals (unless noted), tips, transportation, and a tour escort.  Trips depart from Antioch Park in the lower level of the north parking lot.  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time for motorcoach boarding.

Cancellation Policy:  Pre-paid ticket costs and a $5 processing fee will be deducted from cancellation refunds. Within seven days of trip, cancellations are nonrefundable

Day Trip: Safari Adventure
Travel to Caney and Chanute, Kan., and visit Safari Zoological Park. Enjoy a unique guided tour of this zoo and encounter animals from the plains of Africa to the outback of Australia. After lunch, head to The Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum in Chanute. Learn about the couple who traveled as explorers, writers, and filmmakers as they documented their time in Africa.

Day Trip: Redlining - Federal Policy and its Local Impact
Learn about the federal policy on Redlining and its origins and impacts still lingering today. Johnson County Museum guides will lead a tour on their REDLINED exhibit with additional access to their permanent exhibit. Next, explore exhibits, artifacts, and fascinating stories of history on a guided tour of the Black Archives of Mid-America. Hear a presentation from staff while enjoying a boxed lunch at the Archives.

Day Trip: Historic Arrow Rock 
Start the morning off shopping the downtown Arrow Rock, Mo., stores and/or taking a self-guided walking tour of the many historic sites and buildings of the area. Meet at J. Houston Tavern, the oldest continuously operating restaurant west of the Mississippi. On the way down, enjoy a quick stretch at The Cheese Store. Coolers will be provided to keep purchases cold.

Day Trip: Caverns and Cars
Explore the underground world of Fantastic Caverns by way of tram. See spectacular sights while learning about the cave system. After lunch, visit the Route 66 Car Museum. Marvel at cars from the Brass Era, sports cars, classics, and even celebrity cars. Shop one of the best collections of Route 66 memorabilia in the nation.

Day Trip: Precious Moments 
You know them by their tear-drop eyes and muted pastel painted clothing. Precious Moments have adorned the shelves of Americans for decades. Travel to Carthage, Mo., and tour the Precious Moments Museum, chapel, and grounds. After lunch, tour the Jasper County Courthouse. Be amazed at the Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, constructed in 1894. Enjoy a guided tour of this medieval castle-like courthouse, still in use today. Substantial walking is to be expected.

Day Trip: Calling All Quilters 
Enjoy a day made for quilters in Hamilton, Mo.!  Before getting started with all things fabric, visit the J.C. Penney Museum.  Next, tour the Missouri Quilt Museum and see over 300 quilts from different time periods, 600 toy machines, and 200 antique machines.  After lunch at a local Mexican restaurant, dive into the endless fabric shopping at four of the Star Quilt Company locations.

Day Trip: St. Mary’s and Museums 
Travel to Nemaha County in Seneca, Kan., and tour a handful of museums including the County Museum, The Fire Department Museum, The Temple of Honor, and one of the largest hand-dug wells. After lunch, enjoy one of 8 Wonders of Kansas Art, St. Mary’s Church at Saint Benedicts. This guided tour will leave you in awe of the beautiful stained glass, architecture, and artwork.

Social Outings

Hit the town on a social outing to discover a new city, a boutique, restaurant, or local event.  Meal costs are on your own, and transportation will be in district vehicles.  Outings depart from Antioch Park.

Social Outing: Odyssey of Art
It’s a day of art and inspiration…and pie! Take time to discover the vast collection of art from all over the world, from ancient to modern at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Meet for lunch at Rozzelle Court inside the Nelson. Dessert included. Substantial walking is to be expected.

Social Outing: Discover Downtown - Ottawa
Travel to Ottawa, Kan., and enjoy the day discovering the lively downtown area. Visit the Old Depot Museum and hear about the importance of trains to the development of small towns including Ottawa. After lunch at Luigi’s, enjoy shopping the four-block Main Street, before heading back.

Social Outing: Swing Batter, Batter!
Hear the crack of the bat and the roar of the crowd at the newly renovated Legends Park, once home to the T-Bones, now home of the KC Monarchs. Social Outing: Grandkids Gone Wild at The Manhattan Zoo  
Gather the grandkids and head off to the Manhattan Zoo. Enjoy a lunch at AJ’s NY Pizzeria before a guided tour of Sunset Zoo. After the tour, take time on your own to shop the gift store and revisit your favorite creatures. Lunch cost on your own. Cost is per person. Space is limited.

Social Outing: “Freaky Friday” at The New Theatre and Restaurant 
After dining at the delicious on-site lunch buffet, enjoy the live musical production of “Freaky Friday”. A teenager and her mother switch bodies for one day to see what it’s like in each other’s shoes.

Social Outing: The Crown Experience 
Enjoy a day at beautiful Crown Center. Start the morning at Chips Chocolate Factory with a fudge making demonstration and samples. After the tour, it’s off to shop the gold standard of shops, such as Halls, Hallmark, Crayola, various boutiques, and more.  Pick where you dine in the food court or various restaurants available. Later, tour the newly-renovated Hallmark Visitors Center.
