Let us take the worry out of driving and planning as you embark on vibrant day travels with 50 Plus, where each outing is a joyful blend of exploration and camaraderie. Day Trip: A Dicken’s Christmas
The holiday spirit will be in the air as you find yourself in Warrensburg, Mo., for the annual Dicken’s Christmas Festival. Characters dressed in era clothes will roam the streets while you enjoy chestnuts on an open fire, hot chocolate bars, vendors, craftworkers demonstrating and selling their crafts, horse drawn wagon rides, and various street entertainment throughout the day. Your ticket includes entry to the Tiny Tim Soup Stroll, where you’ll sample soups from various shop locations throughout the day. Meet for lunch as a group at a nearby restaurant.

Social Outing: A Christmas Carol at KC Rep Theatre
Join us for a festive performance of the timeless tale, A Christmas Carol, at the KC Repertory Theatre. Seats are limited. The pre-paid theatre ticket cost is non-refundable at time of registration.

Brew and BBQ
What’s better than KC BBQ and brews? Enjoy the Smokestack Beer and Bites tour at Boulevard Brewery. Get a behind the scenes tour of the brewing process and sample beers along with perfectly paired small bites. The group will enjoy lunch at Q39 BBQ. After the tour, stop off for bakery refreshments.

Treasures Abound 
Delight in a demonstration of marble making at the Moon Marble Company in Bonner Springs, Kan. After lunch, discover the sunken treasures of the Arabia Steamboat Museum. Housing artifacts salvaged from the steamboat which sank in the Missouri River in 1856, this time capsule will have you stepping back in time.

Visit one of Kansas City’s underwater gems - Sea Life Aquarium at Crown Center. Take in thousands of beautiful aquatic creatures in this interactive aquarium and get up close and personal at the touch pools and ocean tunnel. After exploring Sea Life, enjoy shopping and lunch on your own at Crown Center. After lunch, participate in a chocolate making demonstration at Chips Chocolate Factory.

Travel to St. Joseph, Mo. to tour the Glore Psychiatric Museum. Learn about the historic treatments, practices, and therapies and how they evolved for the field of mental health. After, enjoy a tour of the historic 1879 Wyeth Tootle Mansion. With more than 40 rooms, it’s one of St. Joe’s best examples of late 19th century wealth and opulence.

Tour Green Dirt Farm and get a glimpse into their milking parlor, cheese kitchen, and farm, where you’ll say “hellEWE” to the dairy sheep that produces the milk which creates the delicious cheese we’ll sample.  After the tour, enjoy a boxed lunch that features their farm-fresh sheep cheese. Later, visit the Silk Museum and spend time in downtown Weston, Mo.

Take a tour of Spicin Foods in Kansas City, Kan. Get a behind the scenes look at their BBQ sauce production plant, warehouse, and finish in their gift shop for a tasting. After we learn how these popular sauces are made, enjoy lunch and shopping at Legends in Kansas City, Kan.

Walking with Winston  
Travel to Fulton, Mo. and tour America’s National Churchill Museum and hear about his legacy and contributions as the Prime Minister during WWII. Next, visit the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury. This seventeenth-century English church once stood in the center of London, England, where Nazi bombs tore through it during WWII. An organist will bring the walls to life with beautiful music for our group. After lunch, enjoy a tour of Westminster College, the site of Churchill’s speech, “Sinews of Peace.”

Travel to Omaha, Neb. and tour Joslyn Castle, a mansion built in the Scottish Baronial style in 1903. Designed by one of Omaha’s most prominent architects, John McDonald. After lunch at Spaghetti Works, visit the Durham Museum,  located in the former Union Station. Explore the culture, science, and industry of the region and shopping the Old Market area.
