Volunteer With Us!
We are seeking volunteers who will mutually benefit both yourself and the nature center. You play an important role. And we have various volunteer roles. Pick the one that best suits you below:
This volunteer program is open to individuals age 18 or older who are interested in natural and cultural history of Johnson County. Expertise not required, we will train you. We ask that you complete approximately 40 volunteer hours per year to remain part of the Ernie Miller Volunteer Program.
Volunteers are interviewed in a group setting twice a year. After the interview volunteers will be selected and will meet with our Outdoor Education Specialist to set up a schedule and training. We do not always have to to contact you right away or as we receive your application. We will hold on to the applications we receive until time to schedule the interviews. See dates listed.
Yearly Volunteer Interviews (dates are approximate):
- September - apply by August to be included in the interviews happening in September.
- February - apply by January to be included in the interviews happening in February.

Andrea will get you that form after you have contacted her.
Corporate Volunteer Opportunities
Corporate groups and organizations can volunteer too! Opportunities would include general building clean up, trail and park clean up, invasive species removal, and more. If interested in scheduling your work group please contact Andrea Joslin. You do not need to fill out the application. Andrea will provide you a Group Hold Harmless form after setting up a date a time with you.
