KidScape will be CLOSED for renovations  March 27th - April 1st

Kidscape will be closed March 27-April 1 for renovations. It will re-open for Sensory Friendly Monday (pre-registration is required) from 9am-12:00pm on April 3, and then open to the public at 12:30pm.
We can't wait to show you what's rolling down the tracks!

___

Pre-registration to visit KidScape is no longer required except for Sensory Friendly Mondays (see dates below).  We will continue to monitor capacity to ensure we do not exceed fire code of 100 guests. When we do reach capacity, museum staff and volunteers will conduct hourly counts to accommodate additional guests as possible. Kidscape is open from 9:00am-4:30pm and will still close 12:00pm-12:30pm each day for cleaning. Families are welcome to enjoy other areas of the Museum or Arts & Heritage Center during that time and return after cleaning is complete.

To book a group KidScape visit, please call (913) 715-2570 or email [email protected].

Sensory Friendly Mondays are scheduled once monthly from 9:00-noon. Capacity is limited to 30 adults & children and pre-registration is encouraged.

Learning Through Play

KidScape is a fully-immersive, interactive history experience where kids time travel to different periods and communities from the region's past. Work on the farm, perform at the theater or the puppet show, teach in the school, deliver the mail, care for patients at the hospital, or fry up some burgers at the diner. There's 3,500 square feet of fun to explore and learn while having fun!

The Communities

  • An 1870s farmstead introduces kids to life on the farm-tending animals, collecting eggs, gardening and house chores inside the farmhouse. Also try your hand tending livestock and packing a covered wagon.
  • Time travel to a 1900s City to sell fruits and vegetables at the City Market, perform an original play at the theater, and teach lessons at the school.
  • Suburbia springs to life in the 1950s! Care for sick patients at the hospital, cook up burgers at the diner, and build a house for a new suburban family. Even explore a park with a secret cave!
