- Shawnee Mission Park Master Plan
Shawnee Mission Park, a multi-use, 1,600-acre park with a beautiful 120-acre lake is located at 79th and Renner Road in Shawnee, Kansas. It is the largest park in Johnson County and is the most visited park in the entire state of Kansas.
The park offers a lake, beach, beach house, marina, dock, boating, fishing, sail boarding, eleven shelters, numerous picnic areas, nature and bike trails, play areas, an archery range, a 53-acre dog off-leash area, a disc golf course, and is the home of The Theatre in the Park.
The master plans for Shawnee Mission Park, Ernie Miller Park and Heritage Park, were developed, proposed and completed by the consulting team Landplan Engineering, submitting a plan titled "3 Plans for 3 Parks" (PDF). The plan was approved by the JCPRD’s Board of Park and Recreation Commissioners on December 17, 2003.
