Master Plans

Master plans play an important role in outlining the long-term vision for Johnson County Park & Recreation District parks. They provide a guideline for future park development and improvements.

In accordance with JCPRD’s Legacy Plan, opening undeveloped parkland is a priority. The first step to defining budgets, funding, and development phases was to create a comprehensive master plan for each park property. This not only provided direction for the vision of each park, but also identified priorities for phased implementation. To date, a total of 3,517 acres of new development has occurred across four regional parks, including Big Bull Creek Park, Lexington Lake Park, Cedar Niles Park, Meadowbrook Park, with Camp Branch Park development planned to begin in 2026.
