Roeland Park Early Childhood Development Center
We are thrilled to reach out to you today to let you know that we fully anticipate our JCPRD Summer child care to be opening on time! So much has changed since you registered - we want to give you a brief overview of a few of those changes:
*Our program capacity has been reduced in size, and will increase as our community successfully manages each phases of reopening.
*Swimming lessons and other Field Trips have been cancelled. There may be occasional on-site activities and entertainment scheduled.
*Children will remain in the same groups with same staff each day whenever possible.
*Staff will wear masks when participating in group activities with children where they are in close proximity. Masks may not be worn when participating in more physical activities in the heat where it could limit the staff member’s ability to breath freely or otherwise affect their health. Families can choose whether to send children in masks or not.
*Parents will be asked to check in and out at a location that is distanced from the camp(i.e. curbside). A staff member will meet you each morning to do a brief wellness check with your child (including a temperature check) before you leave. We will be restricting facility access to non-essential visitors and will maintain a log of authorized individuals who enters the camp.
*Staff will add hourly handwashing to their routines and teach proper handwashing techniques.
*Staff will clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces throughout the day, as well as at the end of the day and before program starts. Materials/Toys will be washed, sanitized, and disinfected daily.
We hope that this information is helpful as you move closer to summer with your families. We hope to see you and your child this summer and look forward to a good old-fashioned summer camp experience! If you have questions, feel free to contact me and I’d be happy to answer any questions you have.

Our programs focus on self-awareness, motor development, self-selected activity, pre-academic skills, and creative arts along with field trips, classroom visitors, and special events. We are equipped with a variety of learning centers that encourage the young child to explore and understand his/her environment.
Gentle Guidance by Caring Teachers
Through the gentle guidance of our caring and experienced teachers, each child is able to achieve realistic goals specific to individual needs. Programs also seek to include special projects, field trips, parties, and other activities based upon the interests of the children enrolled. Our unique multi-age group setting allows children to experience opportunities in both peer mentoring and modeling. Children are encouraged to be responsible decision makers who work well in communities.
