Learning to swim is an important life skill at any age. Develop swimming competency, confidence and endurance in a safe and fun environment. JCPRD offers a variety of group swim lessons available on weekday mornings, weekday evenings or Saturday mornings.
Swim Lesson Level Descriptions
Parent & Tot
(Ages 6 months to 2 1/2 years)
This program is a water orientation program for both tots and their parents. Participants are led through various class exercises which focus on water adjustment, blowing bubbles, getting their face wet, basic fundamentals required for proper body alignment, kicking and eventual submersion. Both child and parent participate in the water for this program.
(Ages 2 1/2 years - 5 years)
Participants explore basic skills through repetition and muscle memory while encouraging safety in the water. Water adjustment, blowing bubbles, getting face wet, kicking with flotation devices as well as independently, prone glide (superman), back float, and introduction of front crawl stroke.
(Ages 5 years - 12 years)
Participants are led through various class exercises which focus on holding their breath underwater, prone glide (superman), back float, front crawl stroke, elementary backstroke, and deep water introduction.
(Skill based program, not age specific. Typically Ages 6-12 years)
This program is designed for participants who know the basics of swimming, but would like to learn more advanced swimming skills. Skills refined during this program include front crawl stroke with rythmic breathing, elementary backstroke, and backstroke, introduction of breaststroke, treading water and endurance.

This program is designed for participants who have a solid understanding of the basic fundamentals of swimming and want to increase their swim stroke refinement and obtain endurance training. Skills refined during this program include freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, introduction to flip turns and endurance training.
