Museum Reopening

reopening.the.museumREOPENING PLAN OVERVIEW

The museum staff, along with JCPRD leadership, has worked on a phased reopening plan for the museum and the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center. We have been in communication with local and state government and health officials to ensure that our plan does its absolute best to promote safety when you return to the building. Below are the key parts of the first phase of our reopening plans.

The Johnson County Museum will be reopening for pre-registered experiences in the museum and KidScape on Monday, June 1st. Our online registration portal will open on Tuesday, May 26th with offering for the following two weeks.

Your experience will look different than what you are used to. Here’s a quick snapshot of what you can expect:

  • Advance registration required

  • Small group sizes

  • Time limits on visits

  • Enhanced cleaning protocols

  • Extra opportunities for you to disinfect your hands

  • Social distancing

  • Masks encouraged

WHAT WILL BE OFFERED?

Timed Museum Entry

Beginning Monday, June 15th, the Johnson County Museum will offer timed sessions for the museum. Patrons will be welcome to enjoy our signature and temporary exhibits anytime during two self-guided sessions: morning (9:00am - noon) or afternoon (1:00pm - 4:00pm). Between sessions, we will be cleaning the entire museum for the next group.

In order to allow visitors to physically distance, we have limited the total capacity for each session. Walk-ups are welcome, but we highly recommend booking your visit in advance at jcprd.com/museum.

Museum admission will NOT include admission to KidScape. If you want to visit both, please register for a KidScape admission. This will help us limit capacity in KidScape.”
