Theatre provides an opportunity to obtain critical thinking skills by:

  • utilizing reasoning skills to understand/make complex choices and decisions
  • understanding the connections among systems
  • identifying and asking thoughtful questions that clarify/synthesize various points of view
  • exploring the soundness of solutions and discussing other methods to achieve a common goal
  • solving problems and answering questions by framing, analyzing, and synthesizing information

According to the Kansas State Department of Education, Theatre Education prepares the learner for success in school, work, and life in three ways:

  • strengthening LITERACY as Theatre is an essential, holistic language;
  • developing a GLOBALLY COMPETITIVE workforce since Theatre develops essential skills for global competitiveness in the 21st century; and
  • nurturing ENGAGED LEARNERS for Theatre promotes emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
