Olathe Medical Center's Women's Triathlon
Olathe Medical Center is proud to be the title sponsor of the Women's Triathlon, the only all women’s triathlon in Kansas. We are dedicated to improving the health of our community, including providing state-of-the-art medical care and encouraging healthy lifestyles. The OMC Courses
The women’s triathlon event features a Sprint Distance triathlon in Kill Creek Park, and is operated by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

Swimming: The swim start (500 meters) will be a time trial start where one person enters the water every three seconds. You will place yourself by the appropriate pace sign the morning of the race according to your swim time where you feel most comfortable.

Biking: The bike course (10.6 miles) is a partially hilly loop course, held both within and outside the park boundaries.

Running: The run (3.1 miles) is routed on the Kill Creek Streamway trail which adjoin Kill Creek Park. This route provides some of the most beautiful natural surroundings in the region. Aid stations are at transition and every mile on the run. ChampionChip timing-system will be used.

OMC Women’s Triathlon Clinics
Johnson County Park & Recreation District and Olathe Medical Center are proud to announce a partnership with Don Herron and theTRiKC Triathlon Club of Kansas City who will be bringing triathlon educational opportunities to athletes competing or who are thinking about competing in this event. It is never too early to start your training and we want to give you some inside tips and training tools from local triathletes and nutritional information from professional Nutritionists from Olathe Medical Center on the importance of fueling your body during your training.

The following sessions will be at the Kill Creek Park Beach House.

1) Clinic for returning triathletes - Sat, May 3, 9 am - 11 am –

2) Clinic for new triathletes/interests - Sat, May 31, 9 am - 11 am

Swim, Bike, and Run Training Classes
by TRiKC Triathlon Club of Kansas City
To further enhance your training opportunities the TRiKC Triathlon Club will be offering various trainings at Kill Creek Park starting at the Beach House on the following dates:

1) Swim instruction at the beach – Mon, July 21, 6 pm - 7:30 pm

2) Bike & Run instruction & training – Tue, Aug 5, 6:15 pm - 8 pm

3) Bike & Run instruction & training – Tue, Aug 19, 6:15 pm – 8 pm

These sessions will allow you to actually get a feel for the area and learn additional strategies about the sport. No prior registration needed. For any questions about these sessions contact Don Herron with the TRiKC Triathlon Club at tri19degrees@gmail.com

Open Water Swim
Open water swim at Kill Creek Park Beach will be on Monday’s from 6 pm - 7:30 pm starting June 2– September 8. Cost is $4 per person, each visit.

This event is open to all women ages 15 years and older. Competitors under the age of 18 must have parental or guardian consent (see registration form below). Requests for reasonable accommodations will be made for special needs participants please contact Jill Leiker at (913) 826-2950 or info@jcprd.com.

Entry Deadline - Open Until Full
The race is limited to the first 450 entrants. On-line entries will be taken until the event is full.

Three OMC Triathlon Divisions:

1) Individual Division

All participants will be ranked in the following age divisions


2) Teams Division

Teams are a great way to get your friends, co-workers, or family members involved in a triathlon. Form a team with two or three other members.

3) Athena Division

This division is determined by the participant’s weight and is called the Athena Division. The minimum weight will be 165 pounds for women. The weight class age categories for women shall be 39 years of age and under and 40 years of age and over. Participants are not eligible to compete in the Athena Division and in an age group division at the same event.

There will be an Orientation on Friday, September 12 from 6:00pm-7:00pm at the Kill Creek Park Beach (11670 Homestead Lane, Olathe , KS 66061). This is for athletes that have questions about the course or the event . First time participants are encouraged to attend. Transition will be set-up for everyone to see how the event will look on race day.

Overall winner receives a $50 gift certificate to Elite Cycling!
The award ceremony will follow the event at the Beach Parking Lot. An overall winner of the race will be recognized, along with age group and team awards given as follows:

1-5 entries
(1 award)
6-10 entries
(2 awards)
11-15 entries
(3 awards)
16-20 entries
(4 awards)
21+ entries
(5 awards)

Triathlon Post Race Activities: Health Screening
The Olathe Medical Center Women’s Triathlon committee is pleased to bring you fun “post-race” activities. In 2014, the committee will offer onsite cholesterol/glucose screenings, blood pressure screenings, women’s health information, and rehabilitation information. The cholesterol/glucose screenings along with all other services and information are free of charge. OMC encourages all participants, volunteers, family and friends to take advantage of this health information provided by Olathe Medical Center.
