Support the The Theatre in the Park
Less than 20 percent of our operating budget comes from tax sources. The Theatre in the Park is supported by the generosity of many area corporations and foundations that believe in our program. These vital sponsors help finance our program with funds, materials, and/or service contributions.

Auditions
An incredible weekend of auditions is held each spring, with callbacks the following week. Casts for Summer shows are selected at this time. Auditions are open to the public (ages 7 and up) and frequently draw more than 600 aspiring actors, singers, and dancers from throughout the community. Next auditions will take place in spring of 2009.

Handicap Accessibility
The Theatre in the Park is handicapped accessible with reserved parking, ramps and wheelchair seating areas. Sign language interpretation is provided on the second Saturday performance of each show.

The Demmi Awards
Honoring the best productions and performances from the 2007 season, the Demmi Awards are named for Demmaree Carns, former longtime producer at The Theatre in the Park. Winners of the Demmi Awards are announced at the annual Celebration of Stars banquet.

Nominations are made by the directors from each production. Award winners are selected by secret ballot by a committee whose representatives are required to see all shows and who have no family member or relation in any of the productions.

Volunteer & Employment Opportunities
The Theatre in the Park was started through the efforts of volunteers and continues to rely upon them today. All of the performers on our stage, in the orchestra pit, as well as most of the people behind the scenes are volunteers. Each year, more than 1,500 volunteers contribute over 50,000 hours of their time to our program. Individuals as well as volunteer groups from area churches, service organizations, and businesses have fun on summer nights helping out in various ways before, during and after shows. For more information on getting involved, take a look at our JCPRD Volunteer page.

The Theatre in the Park also offers a wide variety of seasonal employment opportunities. Creative talents are used for set design, sound, lighting, costumes and props. Each summer, dozens of teens enjoy their first job working at the Theatre box office, in food services, or parking cars. For more information, look at our JCPRD E mployment page.

For more information about auditions, show, costs and other activities please visit the Theatre's web site at www.theatreinthepark.org.
