2009 Pre-Show Entertainment Opportunities Still Available
During Season 2008, several local dance studios and other acts showcased
their talented dancers and performers a part of the pre-show experience
at The Theatre in the Park.
In 2009, we will do the same and more! We are interested in groups
that wish to showcase their unique talents in dancing, singing,
martial arts, bands, music groups or other performing groups.
Groups receive their name in the program, a chance to distribute
information about classes and most importantly, the opportunity
to perform on the Theatre's large stage in front of an enthusiastic
and attentive crowd. Contact Tracie Holley at 913-631-7050 ext.
(1) 444 or e-mail her at info@jocogov.org
for details.
Hosting Charity and Corporate Special
Events
In addition, JCPRD also hosts a variety of corporate and local charity
special events. With annual attendance of more than 50,000, the
Theatre provides creative opportunities for hundreds of talented
performers, employment for area residents and the opportunity for
its patrons to witness seasoned and up and coming local talent at
a beautiful venue and for an affordable price.
Donate to and Support The Theatre in the Park
Donor support is an important part of any non-profit organization
and it is especially true at The Theatre in the Park. Less than
20 percent of our operating budget comes from tax sources. The Theatre
in the Park is supported by the generosity of many area corporations
and foundations that believe in our program. These vital sponsors
help finance our program with funds, materials, and/or service contributions.
Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Theatre in the Park with a
tax-deductible gift through The Parks and Recreation Foundation
of Johnson County, the charitable entity of The Theatre in the Park.
Donor levels start at the Founding Gift of $19.69, which commemorates
the year The Theatre in the Park was established. Or perhaps you
might consider an Anniversary Gift of $40 (all gifts of $40 or more
will be listed in the season program). Special donor recognition
begins at the Supporter level of $250, including admittance to special
functions during intermission of the Season 2009 productions.

Auditions
An incredible weekend of auditions is held each spring, with callbacks
the following week. Casts for Summer shows are selected at this
time. Auditions are open to the public (ages 7 and up) and frequently
draw more than 600 aspiring actors, singers, and dancers from throughout
the community. Next auditions will take place in spring of 2010.
Handicap Accessibility
The Theatre in the Park is handicapped accessible with reserved
parking, ramps and wheelchair seating areas. Sign language interpretation
is provided on the second Saturday performance of each show.
The Demmi Awards
Honoring the best productions and performances from the
season, the Demmi Awards are named for Demmaree Carns, former longtime

Volunteer & Employment Opportunities
Want to be involved with the production? Interested in portraying
a character or being part of the crew? If so, please contact the
Theatre Coordinator, Tracie Holley at 913-631-7050 ext. 444 or info@jocogov.org.
The Theatre in the Park was started through the efforts of volunteers
and continues today. All of the performers on our stage, in the
orchestra pit, as well as most of the people behind the scenes are
volunteers. Each year, more than 1,500 volunteers contribute over
50,000 hours of their time to our program. Individuals as well as
volunteer groups from area churches, service organizations, and
businesses have fun on summer nights helping out in various ways.
For more information visit our JCPRD
Volunteer page.
The Theatre in the Park also offers a wide variety of seasonal employment
opportunities. Creative talents are used for set design, sound,
lighting, costumes and props. Each summer, dozens of teens enjoy
their first job working at the Theatre box office, in food services,
or parking cars. For more information, look at our JCPRD
Employment page.
For more information about auditions, show, costs and other activities
