Shelter Reservation & Information

All shelter fees are non-refundable.


Reservations are "as is".


Reservations Required
Patrons who attempt to occupy a shelter without a reservation run the risk of having to vacate the shelter immediatly upon arrival of a group holding a reservation.

Special Use Permits
Requests for other uses (tents, pinatas, water baloons, music, commercial services - catering, photographs, etc.) require a Special Use Permit. Please view the "Special Use Permit" page for details.

No Alcohol
No alcohol is allowed in the parks or at shelters with the exception of TimberRidge Adventure Center where a special permit is required. Please see TimberRidge Adventure Center for fees and details.

Johnson County Residents: $35 half day or $55 full day.
Nonresidents: $50 half day or $85 full day

Johnson County Residents: $40 half day or $65 full day.
Nonresidents: $55 half day or $95 full day

LARGE SHELTERS
Johnson County Residents: $60 half day or $95 full day.
Nonresidents: $85 half day or $130 full day

Shawnee Mission Park #8, #10 & #12

OFF-SEASON SHELTER RESERVATIONS:
JCPRD issues permits for off-season shelter rentals from October 16th thru April 14th through the JCPRD Registration Office at (913) 831-3359.
Off-season reservation are available at half the regular fee.
There are no working restroom facilities or running water at shelters during the off-season months.


CAMPGROUND RESERVATIONS: (913) 831-3359
All campground fees are non-refundable.

Shawnee Mission Park:
Campground reservations areavailable for for Not-For-Profit Youth Organizations. Per time segment, 12pm to 12pm the following day.

Johnson County residents: $10/day
Nonresidents: $25/day
Refundable security deposit for key
(residents & nonresidents): $20


No charge for earlier arrivals when available.


GAME BAG RENTAL: (913) 268-0865

Are you planning a picnic or team practice? JCPRD can provide the recreational equipment to ensure the success of your event. The game bag includes one set of horseshoes, soccer ball, softball bat and ball, bases, volleyball standards, net, and volleyball. The entire game bag is available for rental for $35 for Johnson County Resident and $39 for Non-Resident. A refundable $75 deposit is required.


TENNIS COURT RESERVATIONS: (913) 441-2244

$5/hour/court (minimum 2 hours). For group reservations only, at Shawnee Mission Park. No reservations for Antioch Park. No lights except for District-sponsored lessons. All reservations will end at dusk.

Room and Facility Rentals

Need a room for a wedding reception, a retirement party, a post-tournament celebration, a business meeting, or company picnic? JCPRD has several indoor and outdoor facilities for rent. Call the numbers listed for more details or to schedule a site tour.


Ernie Miller Nature Center or Amphitheater - call (913) 764-7759

The nature center has rooms for meetings, including its rustic main exhibit room, with a large wood- burning fireplace. Small kitchen with limited space and equipment. The outdoor amphitheater seats approximately 80 persons and has a stage for entertainment and announcements. Alcoholic beverages not allowed.


Heritage Park Golf Course Green Room - call (913) 829-4653

Spacious room, wet bar, seating for 110, restrooms, and unattached to clubhouse. Views of the area's most beautiful course. Catering can be arranged. Alcohol permit available upon request. Note: Reservations usually booked far in advance. Ample parking.


Roeland Park Dome - call (913) 362-8700

The Roeland Park Dome is a great choice for a lock-in graduation celebration or other activities that require a large amount of space. Chaperones are required for most events.


Theatre in the Park - (913) 631-7050

The best outdoors venue in the metro area, with over 10 acres in Shawnee Mission Park and a new state of the art lighting and sound system. Great for special events, festivals, corporate gatherings, fundraising events, and other public attractions where you need some elbow room. Arrangements can be made for catered picnics, followed by entry to a regularly-scheduled theatrical performance.


Roeland Park Dome - call (913) 362-8700

TimberRidge Adventure Center offers both indoor and outdoor facilities. Our newly rennovated outdoor shelter accommodates 200 people. It is equipped with an outdoor fireplace and attached restrooms. The shelter overlooks our Catfish pond. Our indoor facility, the Welcome Center, is available for any event. It includes a full size kitchen, restroom facilities, a large outdoor deck which wraps around the building and a meeting room that accommodates 80 people. The view from the Welcome Center deck overlooks our Nessie's Lagoon. Other amenities available upon request include: the Challenge Course, the climbing tower, canoes, paddle boats, archery, bb gun range, hiking and fishing (state license required).


Tomahawk Sports Dome - call (913) 268-0865

Great for lock-in graduation celebrations or other activities that require a large amount of space. Chaperones are required for most events.


Tomahawk Recreation Complex - call (913) 631-7050

Room rentals are not available. This is due to several exciting renovation projects taking place throughout the District.
