One of Johnson County's strengths and sources of pride is its outstanding parks and recreation services.



Last year alone, over three million visitations were recorded in Shawnee Mission Park. And that's just one example of the need and desire to protect open green space and natural resources in this community.

Whether it's learning to sail on Shawnee Mission Park Lake, playing softball or basketball in a recreational league or traveling with a senior adult program, these resources play a major role in making Johnson County one of the few remaining "livable" communities nationwide.
