Children Services Outdoor Summer Camps
Ages 5* - 14 yrs old



Welcome to Summer Escapades and Xroads Outdoor Summer Camps!

Johnson County Park & Recreation District hosts a variety of summer camps that are available throughout the county at parks, schools and in community recreation facilities. All camps are fully licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and are staffed by qualified, energetic and caring directors and counselors. Campers will develop health and happiness through safe, diverse, and character building experiences.

*Note: 5 year olds must have completed Kindergarten and be able to provide verification.



Enrollment is Limited
Early registration is encouraged. Full payment is due upon registration.
 
Ways to Register:

1. Online: Click on the green button below to begin the registration process.

Note: The second child discount is unavailable online. You may register and then email registration@jocogov.org for the second child amendment and refund.

2. Walk-in: Registration, Bldg. D, Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch Road, Merriam, KS, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm.
3. Mail: Mail in the Registration Form to JCPRD Registration, 6501 Antioch Road, Merriam, KS 66202.
4. Fax: Download and complete the Registration Form and fax to (913) 831-6336.

Camp Scholarships
JCPRD Summer Camp Scholarships may be available through Community Development Block Grant funds. Please contact us for additional information at (913) 826-3014.

JUST FOR FUN: SUMMER ESCAPADES (Ages 5*-12)
Monday – Friday, 7:00 am - 5:30 pm
*5 year olds must have proof of Kindergarten completion

Beat the summer slump, and have a breakout year at Summer Escapades. Campers will build their character through safe and diverse activities, discovering new skills and interests, making new friends, and connecting with their community. Each outdoor camp session features fieldtrips, swimming, sports and fitness activities, arts and crafts, community service, nature exploration, and more.

JUST FOR FUN: XROADS (Ages 11-14)
Monday – Friday, 7:00 am - 5:30 pm
Xroads offers a different way for pre-teens to experience summer. At this outdoor program, campers stay active with diverse fieldtrips, sports and recreation, community service projects, swimming, and more. Campers will share experiences and challenges with friends, focus on healthy lifestyles, and serve the community. In 2016, Xroads promises a one-of-a-kind summer.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Parent Orientation: May 17, 2017 at 7 PM
Orientation will be held at camp location where child is enrolled and will attend.

Camp Forms:
Parent/Guardians must complete and return the required paperwork for each camper two weeks prior to attending camp.

Inclement Weather Changes:
Extreme weather conditions may occasionally require the changing and/or canceling of some outdoor camp activities. Programs will communicate changes to the schedule, due to weather, through postings at the site, on the camp cell-phone message, and through Twitter. Parents may contact the program cell-phone, as well as follow outdoor camps on Twitter to find changes to the camp and weather plans.

You can also follow the camps on Twitter for activities highlights and inclement weather updates. You do not need a Twitter account to follow the programs.

Camp T-Shirts:
Participants must wear a camp T-Shirt EVERYDAY at camp. Registration fees include 2 camp T-Shirts. Additional shirts may be purchased for $5 each by contacting the Registration Department at (913) 831-3359. Camp shirts will be distributed to campers at their program site. Youth and Adult sizes available. Know your child’s shirt size prior to registration.
Camp Sunscreen:
Families are asked to contribute one large bottle of sunscreen per week, SPF 50 or greater, for each participant during the summer. Waterproof, lotion sunscreen is preferred. These bottles are stored securely by the program staff, and used by all participants throughout the summer. Please inform program staff if your camp participant has allergies requiring specific sunscreen. Participants will apply sunscreen regularly throughout each camp day, administered by program staff or under their supervision.
Camp Transfers: FEE $15
All transfer requests must be submitted in writing a minimum of two weeks prior to the week of camp either by email to info@jcprd.com or by fax to (913) 831-3311 and are subject to a $15 processing fee. ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. Camps are not prorated for holidays, sick days, early pick-ups, late drop offs or suspensions.
Camp Lunches/Snacks:
Participants must bring a lunch in a non-disposable lunch bag and a bottle of water daily to camp. Refrigeration and microwave are unavailable. There will be a morning and afternoon snack provided by the camp.

Camp Age Requirements:
In accordance with JCPRD children services policy, all age requirements for camps will be enforced with the following exception: a child may be placed in a camp if he/she has a birthday that falls during that week.
