|Mom's Health Break and Kids Art Break Programs Both Offered at Athletic Training Center on Jan. 13 & 20|
The idea behind a Johnson County Park and Recreation District program called Mom's Health Break is simple: offer moms a program that helps take care of their health while offering companion programs for their children at the same time, all at the Athletic Training Center, 9301 W. 73rd St., Merriam.
Mom's Health Break is a yoga program for ages 18 and older of all ability levels. The program is designed to help lower stress, improve circulation, flexibility, and coordination. Mom's Health Break is offered at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, and again on Saturday, Jan. 20. The cost for two 60-minute sessions is $10 per person for Johnson County residents or $11 per participant for nonresidents. An additional $1 will be charged to participants who do not have a child enrolled in the companion programs.
The companion class for these two sessions is a new program called Kids' Art Break for ages five through nine. This program will have a winter theme and involves projects using a variety of supplies and media. Children should wear paint clothes. This program will also take place at the Athletic Training Center at 11:45 a.m. on the dates above. Participants will make a frosty snowman and a keepsake project for Valentine's Day. The cost for the companion classes for two 60-minute sessions is $12 per person for Johnson County residents or $13 per person for nonresidents. All supplies are included.
