|Adults Can Learn to Coach Soccer Through New Program on Aug. 27|
Adults can learn to coach volleyball for any age group though a new program being offered in late August by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District. The registration deadline for this program is Aug. 23.
Volleyball Coach Clinic is for both new and experienced coaches ages 18 and older. Rachel Magana, founder and director of the Southwind Volleyball Tribe, will be the instructor for this three-hour clinic. Through a combination of floor and classroom instruction, coaches will learn fundamental, offensive, and defensive drills, as well as rules and philosophy of the game. Because coaches will learn by doing, gym clothes and tennis shoes are required. Search for the keyword "volleyball" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.
This program will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27 at the Okun Fieldhouse, located within the Mid-America West Sports Complex at 20200 Johnson Drive, Shawnee. The cost for one three-hour session is $30 per person for Johnson County residents of $33 per person for nonresidents.
