|Portion of trails to be closed July 31 through Aug. 4|
The public is asked to excuse precautionary daytime trail closures at Kill Creek Park during the first week of August.
Officials said the closures are a precautionary measure due to demolition activity on the adjacent former Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant. The closures should not impact fishing and some of the park's trails will still be accessible during this time.
All trails west and north of the park's main lake will be closed from 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. from July 31 through Aug. 4. This will include paved multi-use trails as well as unpaved equestrian, hiking, and mountain bike trails. Equestrian and pedestrian entrances on the north side of the park will also be closed during this time.
Kill Creek Park is owned and operated by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District and is located at 11670 Homestead Lane, Olathe.
