Summer Season Winding Down for JCPRD Marinas
POSTED: 07/19/2006

The operating season for three marinas operated by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District is rapidly winding down.

The Heritage Park marina will close for the season on Aug. 6. The Shawnee Mission Park Marina and Kill Creek Park marinas will conclude daily operations on Aug. 13, but Shawnee Mission Park Marina will continue to offer weekend hours through Sept. 4.

Kill Creek Park is located at 11670 Homestead Lane, Olathe; Heritage Park is located at 16050 Pflumm, Olathe; and Shawnee Mission Park is located at 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee.

All three marinas, which opened for the season in late May or early June, offer boat rentals, including canoes, pedal boats, two-person sailboats, and fishing boats. Rental rates are listed in the Summer Activities catalog, available now, and on the District's website at www.jcprd.com Fishing permits are also available at the marinas.

Shawnee Mission Park Marina is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Aug. 13 and during these same hours on the weekends of Aug. 19 and 20, Aug. 26 and 27, and Sept. 2 through 4. Kill Creek Park Marina is open from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through Aug. 6. The Heritage Park Marina will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, also through Aug. 6.

For more information during business hours, call (913) 888-1990 for the marinas.
