June 22 is the registration deadline for a Basketball Camp for boys and girls in grades kindergarten through eight being offered by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
Basketball camp will take place at the Okun Fieldhouse, located within the Mid-America West Sports Complex, 20200 Johnson Drive, Shawnee. The program will be staffed by local high school coaches and players, who will stress the fundamentals of basketball including instruction in offensive and defensive skills and limited scrimmage games. Participants will be divided into groups based on age and ability. A clinic T-shirt is included with the program. Camp sessions will take place Monday through Thursday June 26 through 29. Basketball Camp for participants in Kindergarten through second grade will meet at 9 a.m. The cost for four 90-minute sessions is $30 for Johnson County residents or $33 for nonresidents. Basketball Camp for participants in third through fifth grade will meet at 10:30 a.m. The cost for four two-hour sessions is $40 for Johnson County residents or $44 for nonresidents. Basketball Camp for participants in sixth through eighth grade will meet at 1:30 p.m. The cost for four three -hour sessions is $50 for Johnson County residents or $55 for nonresidents.
