Nature is Second Week's Theme for Discovery Art Camp Starting June 19
POSTED: 05/26/2006
Nature, Flowers and Landscapes is the theme of the second week of Discovery Art Camp being offered by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District in late June.

For this program, young artists ages nine to 12 will get the chance to use the new paved trails in Antioch Park to discover new areas to draw and paint. Recent park improvements have added new bridges and planted areas which participants will capture with pencils, watercolors, and pastels in a plein air atmosphere. Search for the keyword "art" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.

This camp is meant to encourage exploration of individual creativity through drawing, painting, sculpting and crafts. Participants should bring a spiral sketch pad and colored pencils to the first class. All other materials are provided. Camp meets from 9:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, June 19-23 on the east side of Building A, Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam. The cost for five two and one-half -hour sessions is $75 per child for Johnson County residents or $83 per person for nonresidents.

The JCPRD's ACTIVITIES catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pick-up at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359 VOICE or (913) 831-3342 TDD. To register online and for updated program listings, visit the District's website at
