|Third Annual Paws in the Park is June 17 at Heritage Park|
Don't miss out on a day that's "gone to the dogs" when the Third-Annual Paws in the Park Dog Contest takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 in the Off-Leash Area at Heritage Park, 16050 Pflumm Road, Olathe.
This fun-filled and family-oriented event gives interested parties an opportunity to bring their dogs and compete in contests such as Fastest Fetcher to the Best Dressed with a category for every dog. Last's year's contest drew more than 300 people and over 50 dogs, and organizers expect numbers to increase.
Planned activities include an agility course and obedience demonstrations by Luv Dogs, a flying disc demonstration by Kansas City Disc Dogs, a vendors' tent featuring a variety of dog-related items, area animal rescue groups, and much more. The first 50 dogs registered will receive goody bags, and there will be lots of prizes and giveaways. Search for the keywords "dog contest" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.
Paws in the Park is presented in partnership with the City of Olathe and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to an area rescue group. The entry cost for this four-hour event is $8 prior to June 16 or $10 on the day of the event.
