|New Beginning Sewing Class for Youth Offered starting June 5|
Youth ages eight to 13 can learn to sew through a new beginning class being offered by Just Joanna Sewing Instruction and the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
In Beginning Sewing, participants will learn to use their sewing machine, how to use basic machine stitches, fabric facts, and basic construction techniques. Participants will use what they learn to create a pillow. Students must provide their own sewing machines for the class. This program will meet at 9 a.m. Monday beginning June 5 at the Tomahawk Recreation Complex, 17501 Midland, Shawnee. The cost for four 2 hour sessions is $48 per person for Johnson County residents or $53 per person for nonresidents. In addition, there is a fee of $20 payable to the instructor, for initial supplies. Call Just Joanna at (913) 390-6679 for a list of additional supplies each student will need.
