|Beaches at Shawnee Mission and Kill Creek Parks Now Open|
Two beaches operated by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District are scheduled to open soon for summer use.
The facilities include: The Shawnee Mission Park Beach in Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee; and Kill Creek Park Beach, 11670 Homestead Lane, Olathe.
The Shawnee Mission Park Beach and Kill Creek Park Beach will both open June 3. Shawnee Mission Park Beach will be open daily through Aug. 13 with Tuesday and Thursday hours of 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and hours of noon to 6 p.m. all other days. From 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, triathletes are invited to come to the beach and take advantage of an opportunity for open water training through July 27. Kill Creek Park Beach will be open noon to 6 p.m. only on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Daily rates at either facility for children 12 and under adults over 50 are $3 for Johnson County residents and $3.50 for nonresidents. Admission for adults is $4 for Johnson County residents and $4.50 for nonresidents. Season passes or combined season passes are also available. Advance registration for groups as well as beach rentals are also available.
