|Spring Paint & Pound Event is April 15 at The Theatre in the Park|
Members of the public are invited to help The Theatre in the Park get its facility ready for its summer season during a Paint & Pound Workday set for Saturday, April 15.
The workday will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Theatre, located in Shawnee Mission Park with a separate entrance at 7710 Renner Road. Participants will receive lunch for their efforts. No advance registration required. Individuals are invited to show up and bring gloves and cleaning supplies.
After being packed away for the winter, a variety of work needs to be done to get the community theater ready for its summer season of musicals. Theatre in the Park Producer Mike Musick said this includes everything from bringing out electronic sound and lighting equipment, to light painting and repair work to preparing everything from flower beds to dressing rooms. Volunteer work for all levels of ability will be available.
The Theatre's 2004 season begins May 20 with the Community Dance Showcase. Musical productions begin June 2 with "The King & I." Other shows to be presented during the Theatre's 37th season include: "Cats," "Peter Pan," "Grease," and "Bye Bye Birdie." For more information, including production dates, visit the theatre's website at www.theatreinthepark.org or call (913) 631-7050.
