Deadline is Aug. 1 for December Branson Christmas Extravaganza trip

The winter holidays may seem a long ways off, and yet an Aug. 1 registration deadline is approaching for a December trip to Branson being planned by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

Branson Christmas Extravaganza is the name of this three-day regional trip, which will take place on Dec. 2 through 4. Participants will depart by motorcoach from Antioch Park and arrive at the Hilton at Branson Landing. Dinner will be at Landry's Seafood Restaurant, followed by the Christmas Extravaganza show at the Moon River Theater. The next morning will start with breakfast at the Hilton, followed by free time at the Branson Landing shopping area where you can watch the musical fountains or relax at the hotel. After lunch on your own, see the Red, Hot, and Blue show at the Clay Cooper Theater featuring a variety of exceptional holiday entertainment. Next up is a visit to a craft mall for some unique gift shopping, followed by dinner at McFarlain's Restaurant. After dinner, let the Hughes Brothers Christmas Show transport you to a wonderland filled with the season's best vocal harmonies and lighthearted humor. On the final day of the trip, wake up to breakfast at the hotel and then head over to Dick Clark's American Bandstand Theater to experience one of the best morning shows in Branson, the Brett Family Show.

The Branson Christmas Extravaganza trip will leave from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam, on Monday, Dec. 2 and return on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The cost for this three-day trip, including transportation, hotel, tickets, gratuities, a 50 plus escort and some meals, including two breakfasts and two dinners, $490 per person for double occupancy, or $630 for person for single occupancy.

While the JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the District’s Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.
