|Dan Field Named New Chief of JCPRD Park Police|
Dan Field of Overland Park recently became the newest Chief for the Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s Park Police Department. Field stepped into the position on Dec. 17 following the retirement of longtime Chief Ralph Hays.
Field will complete his 25th year with the District in July 2006. He has been a captain with the Park Police since July 1993 and has served as patrol commander, investigations commander, and operations commander. He started with the District in July 1981 and has previously served as a Ranger I & II, Community Education Coordinator, and Sergeant. Field holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in public affairs and administration at UMKC.
In his new position, Field is responsible for 17 certified police officers providing law enforcement services on over 8,000 acres of park land with over 7 million visitations per year.
