|Beginning Taxidermy Class For Adults Begins Feb. 7|
A beginning taxidermy class for adults 16 and older is being offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Feb. 7 at the Johnson County Park and Recreation District's Ernie Miller Nature Center, 909 N. Kansas Highway 7, Olathe.
This course is designed for individuals who have little or no experience in the field of taxidermy. Sessions will include preparing specimens, skinning, and the actual process of mounting game birds. Participants are expected to provide their own game bird for mounting. If a specimen is not available, contact the instructor, Park Ranger Stuart Foland, a federally licensed taxidermist, prior to registering for the class at (913) 764-7759. The specimen will not be needed for the first class.
This program will take place on Tuesday and Thursday beginning Feb. 7. The last class will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 15 instead of Thursday, Feb. 16. The cost for four two-and-one-half-hour sessions is $61 for Johnson County residents or $67 for nonresidents. Preregistration is required.
