POSTED: 12/14/2005
"Hockey in tennis shoes" is the way some people refer to a sport which is the subject of a new class being offered by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District at the AMF Ice Chateau, 8788 Metcalf, Overland Park.

The class is called Broomball - Learn to Play and is for adults 16 and older. Instruction in the game's basic rules will be covered in class, including the showing of a video and on-ice time play. Suggested attire is a sweatshirt, long pants or jeans, and sneakers. No special skills like ice skating are required for this game, so it's fun for everyone. Search for the keyword "broomball" to find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities Catalog and online listings.

Classes are offered at two times on Saturday afternoon, both beginning Jan. 7. One class will begin at 3:30 p.m., while another will start at 4 p.m. The cost is for four 60-minute sessions is $60 per person for Johnson County residents or $66 per person for nonresidents.
