|Ernie Miller Nature Center to Host Kansas Art Educators' Association Exhibit Through Oct. 29|
"The Nature of Art" is the theme of an exhibit displaying the talents of Kansas art teachers taking place at the at the Ernie Miller Nature Center, 909 N. Kansas 7 Highway, Olathe, through Oct. 29.
The exhibit, which began Oct. 1, consists of about 23 pieces created by art teachers from across the state. The exhibit precedes the Kansas Art Educators Association annual meeting, which will take place Oct. 27 through 29 in Olathe. The exhibit includes pottery, ceramics, paintings, weavings, jewelry, and sculptures. The pieces are meant to interpret the meaning of both nature and art.
The exhibit is free to attend and will be open during the Nature Center's regular hours, which are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The nature center is closed on Monday. The exhibit is on display in the nature center’s exhibit room, which opened last year as part of a major expansion project which more than doubled the center’s total space.
The Nature of Art also precedes Johnson County Art Fest 2005, which will take place in the Exhibit Room from Nov. 5 through 20 featuring the works of 42 local artists. For more information on either exhibit, contact the Nature Center at 764-7759.
