JCPRD To Participate in 3rd Annual Hispanic Heritage Fiesta on Sept. 25

The Johnson County Park and Recreation District and Anthony Oropeza, creator of the Amigoman comic book character, have teamed for a coloring contest to be presented at the District's booth during the 2005 Hispanic Heritage Fiesta on Sept. 25.
The Johnson County Park and Recreation District is among agencies which will participate in the Third Annual Hispanic Heritage Fiesta, which will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, at Strang Park, located behind the Johnson County Library Central Resource Library, 9875 W. 87th Street, Overland Park.

The District's booth will primarily feature a coloring contest featuring Amigoman - The Latin Avenger, a comic book character created by local resident Anthony Oropeza, who also serves as the park district's Web Development Coordinator. The contest will be judged before the end of the Fiesta and winners in two age groups will receive framed and autographed Amigoman artwork. In addition, newly-updated Johnson County Trail Maps, Activity catalogs, and information on other upcoming District programs and events will also be available.

This outdoor family event is free and open to the public and will feature music by Boss Nova, ethnic dancers from Mexico and Columbia, ethnic food, craft activities for kids and adults, and informational booths from area organizations and businesses serving the Hispanic community.
