|New Running 101 Class Offered for Adults|
Anyone who's ever entertained the idea of running a five kilometer race but doesn't know how to train can benefit from a new class being offered this fall by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
Running 101 is the name of this new class, which is for ages 14 and older. This eight-week training course will prepare participants for a 5K as well as for a lifetime of running. Class will cover how to progress and one's own pace, avoid injury, select proper shoes and attire and much more. Students can "graduate" by completing a 5K in November. Search for the keywords "running" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.
Running 101 will take place beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Shawnee Mission West High School Track, 8800 West 85th St., Overland Park, beginning Sept. 22. The cost for eight one-hour sessions is $59 for Johnson County residents or $65 for nonresidents.
The JCPRD's ACTIVITIES catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pick-up at all Johnson County Library branches.
