Love in the Afternoon programs for 50 Plus feature great music and cuisine on June 3, 5, and 11
POSTED: 05/15/2013

Three programs of fine cuisine and exceptional music are planned during June as part of a series of lunch programs being offered by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District's 50 Plus Department.

The events are called Love in the Afternoon. All programs begin at noon. The first June program will take place on Monday, June 3, at Shawnee Town Hall, 11600 Johnson Dr., Shawnee. Another program will take place on Wednesday, June 5, at Atonement Lutheran Church, 9948 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, and the third will take place on Tuesday, June 11, at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall, Kansas City, Mo.

To find these programs in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under special events. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords "musical entertainment.”

The cost for each two-hour program, including lunch and a show, is $12 per ticket. Season tickets are also available for $60 per person. Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling Frank Curtis at Shawnee Heartland Assisted Living at (913) 248-6688.

While the JCPRD's 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the District's Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.

The JCPRD's Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For updated program listings, visit the District's website at www.jcprd.com.
