|New Horizons Band rehearsals begin May 28 at Roeland Park Community Center|
Calling all music lovers! Even if you haven't played in years, dig out your old instrument and join a group of fun-loving musicians age 50 and beyond in the New Horizons Band.
The New Horizons Band is a program of the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District in conjunction with the University of Missouri - Kansas City's Conservatory of Music and Dance and Meyer Music. The band is open to anyone with an instrument and some musical background. Make beautiful music in a learning atmosphere and enjoy new friendships. The band includes brass, woodwind, and percussion and offers an opportunity to play in small groups and band practice. The band's interim director is Dr. Lindsey Williams, Assistant Professor of Music Education at UMKC's Conservatory of Music.
